Genre : Drama

Music Director: Pritam

Producer : Ronnie Screwvala

Banner : UTV Motion Pictures

ScreenPlay and Story : Anurag Basu

Director : Anurag Basu

After watching the movie, I am confused, whether it is a life in a metro, or its a sex life in a metro..? The movie has grey shade and depressing mood. The movie limit its arena to sex and race for quick rise in corporate world, but stretches too much in these area to create substantial doubts in any kind of relationship.

The good news is, Whatever is shown in the movie, comes with perfection. I count this movie as best among the recent multistarrer, parallel storyline celluloid materials. Different parallel stories are beautifully woven with a web of relationship.

Murder and Gangster fame, Anurag Basu , is a highly talented director, and he doesn’t let you down with Metro as well. All the characters are meticulously defined and give meaning to their characters. The script is well written, and keeps you engaged till the climax.

Shilpa shetty looked so pretty and gorgeous, that you will simply love her.

Kay kay has done a great job. He plays his character differently with different characters and did all of them perfectly. He looked good as frustrated husband, boss and a sex maniac lover.

Both Irrfan and Konkona sen are great performers. They provide some of the funniest scenes. They do their role with such a ease as they are not acting, but rather their own life stories.

From Style to Metro, Sharman is going strong. He has proved his skills in comic and serious roles. He just goes into the character, and did his work with full dedicaton. You have a long way to go Sharman.

Although, this is the fourth movie of Kangana, she has proved that she is going to stay in the industry. She looks so natural and perfect, that no another lady could fit better in the role.

Dharmendra and Nafisa are great actors, and sadly they are wasted in this multistarrer flick. Dharmendra is a legendary actor, and he should be offered meaningful roles.

As expected from Pritam, the songs are good. They added flavour to the movie. Especially, it looks really good to see James's band coming in songs. The songs depicts the emotions and mood.
The story is very old, but the script and screenplay is tight gripped and binds you to your seats till the movie ends.

What to watch out for:
-> Finest performance by one and all.
-> Excellent screenplay and directions.
-> Good songs, which goes with the movie.
->

What not to watch out for:
-> Too dark and depressing.
-> Lot of sex & no emotions.
-> Dharmendra is wasted in a mean role.

If you are looking for 3 hours laughter dose, this flick is not for you. But, yes, if you want to see a movie with classic performances and greyer shade of life, just go for this one.

Cheeni Kum - A sweet romantic film

Rating : * * *

Recommended : Yes

Cast : Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Baby Swini Khara, Zohra Sehgal, Vinay Jain. Krishna Bhatt, Nikhil Ratnaparkhi, Pradeep Shukla, Jameel Khan

Lyrics : Sameer, Manoj Tapadiya

Music Director : Illaiyaraja

Producer : Sunil Manchanda

Director : R. Balakrishnan

This is pure vegetarian entertainment, with tadka of witty dialogues, light moments, lots of romance and emotions.

The first half has adequate pace, with each and every character well defined. Each scene is picturised so well, and every character is so impeccable, that you hardly find any time to think of anything else, but cheeni kum.

There are so many repetive situation and you loved it each time. Whether it is about Amitabh's Umbrella, or comedy on Vinay jain's teeth, or conversation between Zohra sehgal and Amitabh for gym, or Swini askinig for A grade movie. Everytime it looked so fresh and entertaining, and you urge to have it more.

The best part of the movie is its witty dialogues. Each dialogues makes you laugh. The songs goes with the mood of the story, and surprisingly, and you never feel whether there was any song in the movie. Cinematogarphy is at par. The locales are good.

The best performances come from Amitabh, Tabu, Zohra sehgal and Baby Swini. Tabu looked beautiful. Although the age of Amitabh is reminded 100 times in the movie, he looked as energetic and fresh as half of his age. Baby swini is a surprise in the movie and you all will love her. The supporting cast(Vinay Jain. Krishna Bhatt, Nikhil Ratnaparkhi, Pradeep Shukla, Jameel Khan) has done a good job.Paresh is good but his role is not justified.

The problem starts in the second half, as the pace of the movie goes down. Paresh Rawal is one of the finest actors in the Industry. Unfortunately, Cheeni kum doesn't offers much to him, and thus the problem starts in the movie. Paresh's role could have been written better, and that would have added value to the movie.

What to watch out for:
-Witty Dialogues
- Excellent Screenplay.
- Chemistry between Amitabh and Tabu.
- Chemistry between Amitabh and Baby swini
-Tabu's grace.
-Swini's sweetness.
-A light comedy, to relax you after you tiring work schedule.

What not to watch out for:
- Too less of Paresh Rawal
- slow 2nd half

Despite the sugar less romance, cheeni kum is a sweet, lovable entertainer. with time, it will grow of mouth publicity, and has a full potential to become a big hit. As there are no other big banner movies running(except Lokhandwala - which is of different taste and genre), Cheeni kum will have the advantage of lesser competition and should do well at box offfice.

This is a must watch, and is recommended to be watched with you wife, girlfriend, sister, or anyone.
